Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic, a weight loss medication designed originally for diabetes type II. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 peptide that targets an area of the brain that regulates appetite and food intake. This powerful appetite suppressant burns fat and boosts energy after 8-12 weeks of steady use. On average most patients can lose 5-8 pounds a month. This medication can be injected into the front of the abdomen and thigh.
Some foods that do well on the Semaglutide diet are non-starchy vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and proteins like:
1.Asparagus
2. Broccoli
3. Cabbage
4. Cauliflower
5. Green Leafy Vegetables
6. Mushrooms
7. Squash
8. Tomatoes
9. Brown Rice
10. Whole Wheat Bread
11. Oatmeal
12. Nuts
13. Legumes
14. Eggs
15. Cheese
16. Yogurt
17. Chicken
18. Turkey

Our Semaglutide program recommends that you stay within 1200-1800 calories in 24 hours. Some foods that do not mix well with Semaglutide are:
1. Refine Sugar
2. Fried Foods
3. Greasy or Oily Foods
4. Sugary Foods
5. Alcoholic Beverages
6. Sugary Drinks
While on Semaglutide you cannot fast either. Eating less than 750 calories will stop your weight loss so fasting is not recommended. Not eating enough calories will increase muscle loss and slow down your metabolism which can be detrimental to your weight loss goals. Our Semaglutide programs also recommend:
1. Eat smaller portions more often.
2. Eat more slowly.
3. Drink more water, up to 80 ounces.
4. Decrease alcohol intake.
5. Keep a food journal.
6. Get lots of sleep.
7. Limit appetite-enhancing products like Marijuana.
8. Get labs with your regular doctor as a baseline.
9. Check hormone levels.
We counsel our patients on having the right expectations for our weight loss program. Semaglutide is not a quick-fix diet. 3-5 pounds loss per week is considered “rapid” weight loss so we are happy with 0.5-2 pounds loss a week for steady healthy weight loss in our program.
We ensure our patients know they need to move to continue losing weight. It does not have to be hard-core exercise like at a gym. It can be as simple as just walking the dog, stretching for 20 minutes, or cleaning the house. There are so many great apps available on your phone to track movement, caloric intake, water intake, and more.
All patients can run into the dredged plateau in any weight loss journey. We try to look at everything going on in your life to see what might be causing it like:
1. Constipation
2. Not Enough Water
3. Stress Levels
4. Sleep time
5. Lack of Vitamins or Supplements
6. Too Many Calories
7. Too Little Calories
8. Hormonal Imbalances
9. Bad Diet
We have made an Amazon store available to our patients or to others on the diet that can be struggling with some of the side effects of the Semaglutide weight loss program. It recommends our favorites for constipation, hydration, high-protein snacks, and nausea symptoms. We also carry supplements that can enhance your weight loss journey and help with the side effects of Semaglutide like:
1. Vitamin D
2. Metformin
3. Magnesium Citrate
4. Magnesium Glycinate
5. Omega 3 Fatty Acids
6. Vitamin B
7. Fat Burners
8. Multi-Vitamin
9. Thyroid Enhancer
Our Semaglutide program is offered in-office only. We believe that attending your appointment each week gives our patients accountability and responsibility for their actions each week of their journey.
Lastly, we have found that a Semaglutide maintenance program is highly recommended for all our patients who have reached their weight loss goals. Maintenance can start once you have fully tapered down to a maintenance dose after reaching your weight loss goals. Maintenance can be a minimum of 4 weeks but usually is anywhere from 3-6 months. The longer the maintenance program, the better the system gets used to its new weight and calorie intake. This will provide longevity to keep the weight off.
Our program costs can vary from $350 to $1050 and maintenance is $199 per month. You can schedule anytime at 702-485-5500 or online at www.eyecandymedspa.com
